Chevrolet Cruze Repair Manual: Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Reconnection

Removal Procedure

  1. Turn on the radio and record all of the customer radio station presets.
  2. Ensure that all lamps and accessories are turned off.
  3. Turn the ignition OFF and remove the ignition key.

Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Loosen the negative battery cable nut (2).
  2. Remove the negative battery cable (1) from the battery.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the negative battery cable (1) to the battery.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Fasten the negative battery cable nut (2) and tighten the nut to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
  2. Insert the ignition key and turn the ignition to the ON position.
  3. Program volatile memory. Refer to Volatile Memory Programming.
  4. Program all of the customer's radio station presets and set the radio clock to the current time.

Exhaust Flexible Pipe Replacement (1.6L LDE, LXV, and 1.8L 2H0)

Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.

Preliminary Procedure

Raise the vehicle by its full height. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  1. Exhaust Muffler Insulator (Qty: 2)
  2. Exhaust Flexible Pipe Gasket to Exhaust Rear Muffler
  3. Exhaust Flexible Pipe to Exhaust Rear Muffler Nuts (Qty: 2)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten 17 N·m (13 lb ft)

  1. Exhaust Pipe Front Hanger Bracket
  2. Exhaust Pipe Front Hanger Bracket Bolts and Nuts

Tighten 20 N·m (15 lb ft)

  1. Catalytic Converter to Exhaust Flexible Pipe Gasket
  2. Catalytic Converter to Exhaust Flexible Pipe Nuts (Qty: 3)

Tighten 20 N·m (15 lb ft)

  1. Heated Oxygen Sensor

Tighten 40 N·m (30 lb ft)
